Here, you’ll find the steps (and stumbles) of designing Sunday Cottage Escape, with inspiration, updates, and little glimpses into the heart behind it all.
I’m sharing my real-time journey of creating Sunday Cottage Escape, so one day, you can escape here too. 🌸
Things that go on in my mind. The Sunday Cottage Escape took birth in my mind and grew into a full-blown life… a full-blown life that I have lived every single day in my mind since the start. I have visions of helping people get away from the hustle of everyday busy lives. Making a comfortable getaway where someone can take days to regroup, rest, and relax.
Helping people get away from a busy homelife of husband, wife, kids, pets, family members, and everyday responsibilities. Take a day and sleep, stay in your pajamas, read a book, take a long bath, or take a relaxing walk and enjoy nature in a quiet, friendly, safe, and calming garden.
This is something that I dream of building. Building a place in an area that has nothing like this around. I grew up here in a small town that no longer looks like a small town. Our small town has grown over the past 15 years into a city where people move fast, have so much anxiety, deal with stress, and have busy lives. Behind it all, I can still see remnants of a farming community: people who cared about each other, people who knew all the family names, people who grew up with each other, and whose kids grew up with others who still lived here. Those homes of big farming families are now deserted, torn down to make room for warehouses or apartment complexes, and homes that look lost in a crowded city.
These are reasons why I feel that my vision will work. We may not have the Grand Canyon in our city or great waterfalls or even national monuments, but having a small place to go where someone can just unwind and recharge comfortably and quietly can do anyone a great service.
In 2025, this year has had changes like no other. A year where entitled people came out of the woodwork, where loving your fellow neighbor became fighting off Karens, when provoking each other is an everyday thing, and where our country has so much anger and hatred. This is still America and I love our country. Things that people do to change it don't change what’s in my heart… and what is in my heart is to help others with a place and a service we can all use.
One day I can say, “I remember when this place was just a vision”. I have so many plans for Sunday Cottage Escape. Every day, new things pop into my head and I try to think of how to implement them into my vision plan. How can I add events on Sundays, because Sundays will be a special day for my escape. I want to have BBQs, Games, Breakfast Plans, Movie nights, Social events, etc.
Now I’m talking about not just your everyday BBQ, Movie Night, or what have you… I mean taking these kinds of ideas to the next level by getting guests involved and feeling a sense of belonging and togetherness. This is a place to feel at home, to feel welcomed, and a part of a community family.
So here I am, still building, still dreaming, and still believing. Sunday Cottage Escape might still be in the vision stage, but it's already alive in my mind and heart. And now… maybe it’s alive in yours, too. Whether you’re just as tired of the noise or simply longing for a little peace, this dream is for you. Let’s create a space where we all feel at home—one tiny cottage and quiet moment at a time.
Be the first to see new updates, dreamy ideas, sketches, photos, and behind-the-scenes magic as this peaceful getaway takes shape.
You’ll get cozy updates (not spammy stuff), and one day, you’ll be the first to know when booking opens. 🌸
