This Is Why Kindness—and Safe Spaces—Matter
There may come a time when I write something that doesn't directly connect to my vision or dream… but still comes from the heart.
Right now is one of those times.
This morning, I started my day as usual—opening my laptop and turning on my phone. I checked in on a few of my social media accounts (the ones not connected to Sunday Cottage Escape). As expected, I fell into the scroll. You know how it goes.
At first, I came across a few sweet, heartwarming videos—the kind that tug at your emotions and make you smile through tears. But then… I saw something else.
A video of a family living in extremely poor conditions. The mother and two small kids were sitting quietly around a small table. Food was covered and waiting. The father walked in—tired, in worn-out clothes, looking completely depleted. The kids jumped up with excitement, “Daddy’s home!” They pulled out his chair, took his coat and lunchbox, wrapped their little arms around him... but he didn’t have the energy to respond. He looked empty. Worn out. Like he had been trying to provide for his family but getting nowhere.
It hit me hard. My chest literally ached. I’ve seen worse, yes, but something about this one got to me—especially the next three videos I watched.
The second video was of a woman on the back of a yacht, holding up a glass of champagne. The text on screen read: “How I made $250K with short-term rentals on Airbnb.”
Then the next video? A young man standing in front of a luxury car parked outside his mansion with text that said: “Living the life of millionaires.”
And finally, a video of a man sitting on a sidewalk in worn hiking clothes, hugging a tiny malnourished boy. This little one looked no older than five. Dirty, crying, in tattered clothing—starving for food and love.
It was too much. I was a mess.
These kinds of contrasts… they’re real. They exist in the same world. This world. Right now.
I wish I saw more videos about kindness, giving, and humanity. Because they’re out there—and they do restore hope. But lately, it seems like the darker, more selfish side of humanity has become louder.
There’s so much entitlement, anger, and disconnection.
Why can’t we just be kind?
Why can’t we care more for those who are struggling?
I know life is hard. I know it’s tough just getting through the day—paying bills, caring for our families, showing up. I really do get it.
But still, I wonder… when will things shift for the better?
And this brings me back to my purpose.
To create something simple but special.
A small dot on the map where people can breathe again.
Where kindness is the currency.
Where community matters.
Where peace isn’t a luxury—it’s the whole point.
I want to bring people to a place that welcomes them, comforts them, and reminds them of the goodness that still exists. A space to recharge and forget about the outside world for a little while—or a long while.
Sunday Cottage Escape will be your go-to escape.
It’s already my go-to escape—in my mind.
And let me tell you… it’s absolutely amazing.
Just a reminder: Sunday Cottage Escape is not a physical location—yet. This is still a dream in progress. It may take 1 year… or 10. But I believe the best things are worth the wait. And if you’re here from the beginning, cheering it on, you deserve your free night stay.
