Welcoming Fall: Planning Peaceful Retreats at Sunday Cottage Escape

September 21, 20252 min read

Great news — it’s the last day of summer here in Arizona!
Summer is my least favorite time of the year. I’ve lived in Arizona all my life, and you’d think I’d be used to it… but I’m not, and honestly, I don’t like it.

Even better news? Tomorrow is the first day of fall. 🍂 I love fall. Fall means pumpkins, soups, and the start of beautiful outdoor weather. There’s nothing better than making a big pot of Ham & Potato Cheesy Soup. Oh, how I love soups.

Warm bowl of cheesy ham and potato soup — a cozy fall comfort food inspiring the peaceful, slow-living vision of Sunday Cottage Escape.

Unfortunately, Sunday Cottage Escape will not have a kitchen. I would have loved to make a pot of soup to share with others, but that’s not the type of establishment I want to create.

I want a place where the key purpose is for people to come and…

  • Unwind

  • Recharge

  • Enjoy quiet moments

  • Be themselves

  • Unplug

  • Rest

  • Take a break

  • Slow down

  • Read

  • Take peaceful walks

  • Enjoy a tiny space of their own

  • Sleep in

Every day, I’ve been dedicating my time to learning all I can to create a wonderful retreat for the best guest experience.

The excitement grows daily — picking out elements for the garden and tiny houses, planning out every aspect of Sunday Cottage Escape.

Learning the business side of running a retreat is probably the hardest part. It’s so important because the more I learn, the more I realize there is so much to consider for Sunday Cottage Escape to succeed. Not only do I want it to be successful for me, but I want it to be successful for my guests as well.

It’s exciting to discover new things about the hospitality industry that I never realized before. Doing research and finding ways to create a truly unique experience has been one of the best parts of this journey.

But there’s one thing I wish I could add to my planning: knowing what you — my future guests — would want in a great getaway. Hearing it in your own words. I would love for someone to one day stay at Sunday Cottage Escape and find that we added something special they suggested.

You know, you can request something now. We may not be an actual site just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add your thoughts. You can always write me at [email protected]. Leave your suggestions, requests, and feedback — I’d love to hear from you!
