Why I’m Creating a Place Where Guests Can Finally Breathe Again
Wow—these past few days have been incredibly exciting!
I’ve been creating detailed layouts of my retreat—from the parking lot to the placement of every plant in the garden. I’ve been designing safety plans, mapping emergency hubs, and visualizing how each element will work together. It may sound unusual to be thrilled about things like this, but I truly am. Building a place that exists to serve others is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. Every new idea I can incorporate for my guests and their experience lights me up.
Lately, I’ve been working 10–12 hours a day on planning. The research, the training—it all takes time, and I’m doing everything I can to absorb and apply what I’m learning so I can build this retreat the right way.
You know, I once heard that when you decide to do something big—something that matters—don’t announce it. Just let the results speak for themselves, because people will try to discourage you or make you doubt yourself. And so, I haven’t told anyone in my personal circle.

Only you know.
I’ve also started creating my Employee Handbook and building the staff structure. I’m carefully planning the roles and choosing the types of people I want on my team—not just for their experience, but for their heart. I want my staff to feel just as valued as my guests will feel. To me, hospitality isn’t just service—it’s care, dignity, and the belief that every person deserves to feel seen.
Sunday Cottage Escape will be a place for those who need to reconnect with nature and experience peace. I believe everyone deserves a moment to exhale, rest, and remember what life is supposed to feel like. And that is exactly what they will receive.
This fast-paced world takes a toll on so many of us. We get caught in the endless loop:
Get the kids to school
Rush to work
Sit in traffic
Walk into an already stressful day
Clock out exhausted
Go home to cook dinner
Clean up, do laundry, help with homework
Prepare for tomorrow
Try to squeeze in a few minutes of rest before bed
Wake up and do it all again

Check in for just two nights at Sunday Cottage Escape and let that routine melt away. Here, you come first. You will be cared for, nourished, and given the space to breathe again—to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with yourself. This is a place to rest, recharge, and live slowly.
Yes sirree, every detail of this retreat is being planned with one goal in mind: to serve our guests.
In the near future, I’ll be asking for your input! I want you to be part of this journey by helping me choose certain elements and features. Together, we can bring this vision to life.
